TheoryThe existing building, originally a Young Offenders Unit, situated in Erdington area of Birmingham, was to be converted into a 54 bedroom medium secure unit for acute mental health patients. The main challenge was to incorporate a vast array of state of the art security systems into the fabric of a single storey 1940’s building.
With safety and security being a major requirement, it was imperative that the installation was not intrusive for the residents.
Close liaison between the design and installation teams in the speedy resolution of design issues, together with the detailed programming and sequencing of the many ceiling void services and systems, which included:
